Yeah. That is true and for the first few years of our existence (ie 2005-2010) we did fight to be allowed to reconsolidate under the federal program. Now that the FFELP program is ended, you can consolidate into the Direct Loan program, but it really doesn't save you anything on interest. I think it actually bumps your interest by a bit. But Regardless, it's pretty much a moot point at this point. The lending system is CATASTROPHICALLY FAILED and must be abolished for the good of the country. We're not going to bother re-arranging deckchairs. The loans must ALL be cancelled at this point. That will solve your problem.
